The objectives of these two films differ profoundly.
I believe the first film we watched, "Triumph of the Will," was originally created to show Adolph Hitler as a hero. Maybe even God-like. The objective of the first film
The second film we watched, "Night and Fog," had the complete opposite approach. Hitler was depicted as a monster, which he defiantly should be. I'm sure whoever made the second film had no fear of releasing it because the war was over. If it was released during the war, they probably would have been killed.

What were the artists' objectives in making the two films?
What about the films made you think that?
After reading other posts, my views on the first one have changed. I still think, "Triumph of the Will," was made as a documentary, but it included footage that made Hitler look like a celebrity or a savior. The artist made the movie the way she saw it, and she saw Hitler as a celebrity. The angles she used and the music playing during the film made it seem like a happy place when Hitler showed his face.
I agree with oaul on the second movie. "Night and Fog," was made to show the horrible things found after WWII. The artist did this by getting footage of the camps/prisons and putting it all together with numbing music.
I agree with Paul. Part of the reason I think they were so different was because of when each was made. Triumph showcases the rise of Hitler. Night and Fog analyzes and informs in an after-math approach. They were able to walk around in the ruins and remains, they also had footage from Triumph and the War to parallel the two times, past and present. Both films succeed in their goals.
