My town, Oswego, IL, had nothing going on... ever. To give you an idea, Wikipedia has an article about an episode of Prison Break filmed in Oswego, which states, "..it should be noted that the town's portrayal, specifically the bustling downtown scene, was largely inaccurate." And trust me when I say this, Wikipedia does not need a citation in this case. A restaurant serving anything other than burgers and/or pizza could not survive in Oswego. This is were my former life was born and raised. Sometimes I couldn't stand it and would take a day trip to Chicago. Then it turned into weekend trips. By my Senior year, it turned into "college visits" a couple of times every month. After awhile, my friends just assumed I was in Chicago because most of the time they were right.
My new life consists of much more life, culture, and a lot less Metra tickets. With my U-Pass I love to go into an unexplored neighborhood to just walk around and grab a bite. I no longer feel like I'm in a culture vacuum.
